Get Yahoo Mail Beta

A reader posted in the comments a clever trick to try the new Yahoo Mail Beta:

To get Yahoo Mail Beta, just switch your content preference to Germany, France or UK. Then you will be asked if you want to join the beta when you log into your Yahoo Mail. Say yes, and join the beta. Then from the options menu, change your content preference what it was before. Then go to Yahoo Mail again. You should see Yahoo Beta. If you don't see it, go to options and click "Try Beta" button. That's all.

How to change your content preference:

* log in to Yahoo Mail
* click Options
* select Account information from the left panel
* go to Member Information, General Preferences, Preferred Content
* select, for example, Yahoo UK
* click Finished
* go to Yahoo Mail
* you'll see a page that says "It's the New Yahoo! Mail Beta... and you're invited."
* click on "Try Beta Now".

  1. Yahoo doesn't get it, I tried the new Yahoo Mail beta and is horrible slow, with bloated interface, obstrusive ads, I much prefer GMail which is elegant, simple, fast, and more importantly it does not get in your way.

  2. I must be blind, where do you change your content preference?

  3. well, I tried UK and no luck... Took me forever to find a valid zip code for the UK too!

  6. work for me. very cool and thanks

  7. Worked for me. Just click "Options" on the top right. Then select "Account Information" or something to that effect (my language setting isn't English). Enter your password and then change your "Content Preference" to United Kingdom. Worked like a charm, thanks!

  8. I just got the beta (using this technique, of course), and I'm amazingly underwhelmed. As noted above, the beta is rather sluggish—especially when compared to Gmail.

I was excited about the old beta back in 2002 (what they use now)—it looked great and worked great. This new beta is a load of crap.

    Thanks for the tip, though.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I like it, but I was hoping that Calendar and Contacts would have been updated to the Oddpost beta as well, but unfortunately, no luck.

    ReplyDelete
  10. this is working great, thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I have to say that I have Yahoo Mail Plus and there are no ads and the beta has been out to us Plus users for quite some time. I love it! And the built in RSS feed reader is pretty nice, too!

  12. I have been a Yahoo email'r since 199something. I tried the beta a couple of months ago when it first came out. Very, very unusable. So slow! I switched back. The announcement last week of a new beta release brought me back in. Still very slow and causes my Firefox to hang continually. Wow, they are going to have to rethink/redo something before this thing comes out of Beta.

    ReplyDelete
  13. The Yahoo Beta email gets much faster after the first use... it has to load all its mojo into your browser.

Been using it since January and it's marvelous.

I much prefer Yahoo Beta to the folderless Gmail structure.

    ReplyDelete
  14. worked like a charm! Now I can browse through my junk mail faster than before.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Thanks. I got it but it is slow. I think I might change it back to the old one.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Tried it, but didn't see a beta "switch" option. They must be onto this!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Saludos desde Colombia.

Ya lo probé, funcionó muy bien!. Muchas gracias por la información, hice tambien un post sobre esto (Citándo Google Operating System por supuesto).

    ReplyDelete
  18. How do I switch with my Mail Plus account? I don't see a way to do it.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Worked fine, but was very underwhealmed by the beta.. Was very much looking for bigger things.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yahoo Mail beta is slow and buggy. It's a true crapshoot if you're using Firefox. Sometimes it crashes, sometimes it doesn't.

Interface is much more appealing, but it needs a lot of work "under the hood."

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm switching for the most important/most used contacts (family, close friends, professional-work emails) to Gmail. It is just easily nicer, more reliable, using accents more smooter.
    Gmail is BETTER.

    ReplyDelete
  22. i agree that gmail is MUCH faster, but for anyone who enjoys this, you can switch back to Yahoo!US once u have the beta enabled (just a side note)

    ReplyDelete
  23. I couldn't get it to work at first. I haven't been in account information since I had the 6 meg account (before they were issuing 4 meg accounts, that have since all been upped to 1G). There was all kinds of information in there that it said it needed and there was no general preferences section. After changing a whole bunch of things in there and entering and exiting it a couple times it finally showed up and I could change the language preference. Then it worked.

Switched back already though, not worth it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Wow, lots of hate for the new beta. Well, I've been using it for about 4 months now and I like it. I'm a Yahoo! Plus user so I don't get any ads and can't comment on how obtrusive they are, but it's never crashed my browser (Firefox, works great) and the interface is hardly bloated. Ocassionally you will get an error, but retrying your operation will usually do the trick. As for it not being elegant or simple, I guess that's all subjective. I personally feel it is much more elegant than Gmail, looks a DAMN shade better and is as simple as it gets to use. This is a tried and true email app paradigm which has worked for dozens of email clients. Folders on the left, list of messages on the right, preview pane on the bottom right, basic toolbar above the message list. I mean really, is that complicated?

So, really the only problem is that it is in fact slow, but I heard the latest build improves speed considerably - especially after the first time you log on. I don't think that build has been pushed out to my server farm yet so I can't comment. But keep in mind that this is a beta for a reason. It's hardly fair to comment on performance or bugs.

  25. Guess I'm not surprised Yahoo seems slow. A bunch of us on the stock boards have pulled out our hair over broken search function and broken recommendations during periods of high activity. Seems like Yahoo could use a major upgrade.

    ReplyDelete
  26. worked like a champ...thanks man :)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Well, i tried it and its cool, especially the preview option. But its a pain that it high high 1024x768 resolution requirement.
    thanks for help,
    karan

    ReplyDelete
  28. thanks i dont know what i will do with it now... but it is realy cool. how did you find that?

    ReplyDelete
  29. I managed to get the Beta with the Canadian version of Yahoo! but quickly switched back to the original version b/c it defo seems there are some issues to work out (like the lack of address book functionality), not to mention it's a wee..... bit...... slow......

    ReplyDelete
  30. I already haev Yahoo! Beta and I'm in Canada. :D

    Nice tip though!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Like everyone has said before me, its slow, and that damn add on the right side is very very annoying. But cool find!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Could it be slow because your mail is now hosted on the other side of the Atlantic ocean? As far as they know, you're now in that other country.

Also, you do realize that you're agreeing to the Terms of Service in another country, right?

    ReplyDelete
  33. You can switch back to USA and it still gives you the beta. Nice trick

    ReplyDelete
  34. Works for me, thank you :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Yep, the trick works well alright, but, just so you know, it only works for Windows 2000/XP, and OSX.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Great Tips.
But it seems didn't show the "SIZE" which is the msg size in this new beta. How could we see the message size?

    ReplyDelete
  37. i just lost 1gb of storage when swiching to the beta version ... i had 2 gb now i only have 1

    ReplyDelete
  38. Oh wow, i didn't even know it was offered there before us. Thanks for the info!

    ReplyDelete
  39. It's been fixed now. If you're in the US you only get US options. Well, for my co-branded SBC Yahoo account at least.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I agree with everyone about slowness. Even more to the point is its freakish desire to emulate a basic software email client. I don't want that for my webmail. That's why gmail is brilliant, it's webmail and it's not like an average client (outlook, thunderbird, etc.). Yet I like the current yahoo webmail SPECIFICALLY because it's simple and works on a large variety of browsers, letting me get my mail anywhere. Can't figure out why they've screwed with that, other than the term "AJAX" must have found its way into a CEO's vocab. Yuck.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Great tip. It has worked for me too. However, I feel it is slow.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Cool this really works...thanks!
Also check out www.neobinaries.com for new email programs and lots more.

    ReplyDelete
  43. To try the Beta:

    1. login to your Yahoo!Mail account,
    2. click on http://edit.yahoo.com/config/set_intl
    3. set to "Yahoo! UK",
    4. click the "Try the Beta" button

    ReplyDelete
  44. First, it killed my dear Firefox, it is terribly slow, and it's not simple. I really don't get it. I guess that when you have so many people signed up for your email service you don't really care anymore. It's a shame, they just don't get it. They've had so much time, they could have done wonderful things. I expected them to do something better than Gmail, that's why I opened an account with them if I ever decided to switch ( I used Hotmail, don't even). This is one of the reasons why Google is such an eminent threat.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Cool trick but Yahoo Mail SUCKS! I feel in love with Gmail and until I find a sexier company than Gmail, im going to be sticking with Gmail.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow. Yahoo has had Oddpost for 2 years now and after the long wait, we get this? This is very disapointing. The user interface looks like a bad version of Outlook Express. Gmail and Google Calendar eats Yahoo's lunch..AND dinner.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I am all for the improvement in Yahoo Beta. However, if the speed deteriorates just because of the switch to Beta version, then I find it is not worth it for the moment. The ad-infested current stable version of Yahoo Mail could just be much better than the the slow Yahoo Mail Beta.

I assume it will take some time for them to improve their bandwidth, just like Microsoft Office Live.

    ReplyDelete
  48. hey it worked for me though and the user interface is cool !!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I use firefox 1.5.0.2 and the AdBlock plugin - Yahoo Beta works beautifully and smoothly on my current laptop (Pentium M), but is slow on my older PIII.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Works, but boy is it slow for me! On a 2.6 ghz Celeron, plenty of RAM, on Firefox.

    ReplyDelete
  51. It may have worked yesterday, but doesn't today. I tried UK, Australia, India even Indonesia - no beta offer...

    ReplyDelete
  52. The beta made my MSNTV2 crash. (I use computers, too, but nothing beats MSNTV2 for watching streaming video.) I switched back to the original. I'm sincerely hoping that the beta doesn't become the only option.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Worked for me. I'm in Australia and changed my profile to the UK, got the option to try out the Beta and it worked. Then change my profile back to Australia, and the beta is still working.

    Thanks. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Great tip! Found your site from Digg.

    ReplyDelete
  55. It is only slow because "the digg is in full effect." Been using it for a long time and it has been very fast, esp this past week.. until right now.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Worked for me...Couldnt see UK at first... Changed it to India(for Example) and then go to the mail page and then comeback, Check again and UK will be on the list..Quite Surprisingly it works.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Not working for me...have tried UK, India, Canada, nothing...

    ReplyDelete
  58. if urs is yahoo.co.in or something like that...
i guess this tweak doesnt work.
Y!beta is not released for few countries domains like India....
Mine was yahoo.co.in ,,, didnt workd.. tried with my other accnt which is .com and it worked.

    ReplyDelete
  59. No idea what you're talking about...my actual account is US version. I switched to the UK as instructed and did not get the invitation. I've tried numerous other countries (India, France, Germany, New Zealand, etc...) and none of them work either.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Worked for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    But Gmail is still better....

    ReplyDelete
  61. All right, sweet, it worked. :)

    ReplyDelete
  62. The load is very slow, still http and not ajax like gmail is. Today with webmail your wasting your time creating an online mailbox without ajax, it's just too slow. Plus those HUGE ads... they are right in your face and you cant get rid of them.

    Google all the way!

    ReplyDelete
  63. <<The load is very slow, still http and not ajax like gmail is.

Yahoo Mail Beta uses Ajax to request mail content.

    ReplyDelete
  64. My Yahoo account is integraed with SBC internet service, So I am not able to enable this feature. I can only see Yahoo U.S English, Yahoo U.S Spanish, and Yahoo U.S Chineese in the Language/Content settings. Hope, Yahoo will enable this feature to U.S customer soon.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Just choose Yahoo Spanish, and then once in Spanish, go back to the same options and you'll see all other countries listed.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I have tried Yahoo Mail beta, and I have to say that I don't like it at all. As one of the other posters said, it's slow as molasses and still has a long way to go. Gmail is the best!

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thanks a lot my earlier Preferences were Yahoo U.S changed to Yahoo U.K and it worked, thanks a lot will help my friends who had this problem too.

    Manze you are great!!!

  68. It worked like a charm! I've had yahoo mail forever but have been using gmail almost exclusively these days. However this new Yahoo mail is great! I have been avoiding cleaning up folders and old addresses. It was so easy to clean out everything with the drag and drop and the keyboard option of holding Ctrl to make multiple choices and then delete to watch them all dissappear!! I've only had this beta for less tha 24 hours but so far I have had no problems with speed or with Firefox. I can tell no difference at all. I'm hooked! Now if Yahoo would only give us an up date for calander and allow for outgoing messages to display from another one of your email addresses like Gmail offers! Then there would be no contest!

    ReplyDelete
  69. I used Yahoo mail for a long time, got fed up and switched to gmail about two years ago, and was hooked to gmail since. I tried the beta of Yahoo mail, and even though it had some cool features, the user interface felt clunky, the load speed was slow, and there were all of those obtrusive ads to contend with. All in all, I believe Gmail will always be the better email service.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Did yahoo just fixed this loophole? I can't get to Yahoo UK. All I got was Yahoo US Chinese.

    ReplyDelete
  71. It worked fine for you. I choose yahoo france

    ReplyDelete
  72. Very god indeed. It works fine with me. Have tested to send and receive...very good

    ReplyDelete
  73. Hmm... how many people on here are "plants" for Google? Is the new beta a bit slower? Slightly, but I'm on a high speed connection at home and work and it isn't slow for me using Firefox. On the contrary, it has drastically sped up my work process, especially clicking through e-mails and spam. I just cleaned out 600 unread messages/spam in 5 seconds. Sort by read/unread and hit the delete key and you're all set!

    ReplyDelete
  74. What Yahoo! mail? The server cluster that hosts mail.yahoo.com has been unreacable for over 24 hours now.

I very rarely need to use Yahoo! mail so I usually just log in there to clear out the 10 or so spam messages that get through the filters every day. Now I actually need a bit of information in a message someone sent to my Yahoo! address and I can't get in to read the message.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Hi All,

I tried this Beta at home, after finding out this afternoon at work my Webmail wouldn't work, too old of a workstation for Win2000/XP. Plus, I'd get fired if I tried a Linux LiveCD in it. So I switched back after a few things bugged me like the flags on the wrong side, plus I missed the boxes to check to move or delete in bulk. But I asked on the Yahoo Linux-Newbies Group if any had tried this Beta with any Linux yet. Tonight, I got one answer so far...Yes, it was slow on Ubuntu Linux, but he said it was a P3 with 768 MB RAM. He also added something about overlapping text, but said on the whole it worked on Linux. Beats me why the Yahoo/ATT programmers just don't try it on more Linux Distros and say so. We all know their call centers wouldn't be able to help casual users with Linux questions, not with most not able to handle some Windows or networking questions now.

Let us know what you find out,
    ChiJoan

    ReplyDelete
  76. hey thanks man...it works but something that really bugs me that is the new yahoo mail beta DOESNT work on opera!!!Damn!still...thanks

    ReplyDelete
  77. hey this is brilliant!! it works. Thank a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Wow, I didn't even do it. I logged in, yahoo asked me if I wanted to try it.

I must say, it's nice, but it's very very beta. At least with the old non-ajaxified yahoo! webmail you could block the ads with adblock plus

    ReplyDelete
  79. Yahoo mail beta sucks. It is filled too many visual distractions - cannot view or compose a mail without getting irritated by the visual disturbances.
I hope its going to bomb. I very much prefer the user friendly, less cluttered google interface.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Hey thanx a lot ..it works like a pure magic for me..Thank u ... it's good to see yahoo in a desktop mail manner...

    ReplyDelete
  85. Been struggling with this for a couple of weeks, and even on a very fast PC with 8Mb link, it's just horribly sluggish. Switched back now.
Gmail have nothing to worry about - I just wish they'd sort their search out! (needs more than 20 results)

  92. For all those poor things who complain of lag using Firefox - swicth to a better browser. Yahoo! Mail Beta may be slightly laggy, but it has the interface of a mail client, and that is what is going to win over work people who can't navigate Gmail well. Firefox struggles with Yahoo! Mail Beta whereas my other browsers including IE don't have a single problem at all.

    ReplyDelete
  93. i love it! it takes a little time to load the first time but after that it is a breeze. i'd never go back to the old version. there are some areas which need attention but they should be ironed out in time. i don't like gmail at all because i have a lot of different categories of mails to deal with and it doesn't have folders! i have around 30+ folders in my yaho0 mail and it works like a charm!

  94. A warning to Yahoo mail beta users
    ---------------------------------
Hi everyone. Never use yahoo mail beta. I hear lot of my friends saying that they get temporary usage problem after some time. You may loose your mails in the inbox. Let things settle.
    justin

    ReplyDelete
  95. It looks like load of crap to me, it has nothing new. It doesn't work with opera(i realy hate that), and they changed something about the POP server so u can't use it with the YPOPS program (at least the current version).
All in all i would have preffered a email plugin for Yahoo! messenger, but only if it was faster.

    ReplyDelete
  96. I downloaded beta and now can not even access yahoo from my computer..I'm still trying to find out how to unload it..even unloaded yahoo entirely and reloaded...I still cant access it. I have to go to a different computer to read my mail. At this point I may as well close my account entirely for all the good it does me

    ReplyDelete
  97. I did the yahoo beta thing. I thought it looked great. The problem is now I can not open my yahoo email. I can't even get to the yahoo email window. It keeps giving me an error message. I have sent messages to yahoo asking for help but as of yet I have heard nothing from them.
If someone could email me and tell me what to do or how do change back I would be thankful.....
    email me... Yeye4jesus@aol.com

    ReplyDelete
  98. To start... yahoo beta doesn't support 800x600 screen resolution which is lame. Maybe if they take some of the ads off of the screen so that i can see the more important items (like my mail) the smaller res would work.

Also, since the beta release, i find firefox crashes when i access my inbox. In my opinion, Yahoo mail is years behind Gmail... they should be taking notes.

    Gmail happy..

    ReplyDelete
  99. Like the idea of the functionality offered but it doesn't work. Since upgrading to beta version on my MDA i've been unable read any Yahoo emails. How do I go back to the old version?

    ReplyDelete
  100. I found yahoo mail slow loading when they changed things several months ago and I changed to firefox compared to IE explorer and it was a huge improvement. Now they have this beta version out and found it absolutely slow and useless on the old dialup which I have. Yahoo mail gets slower each time they change it. It Sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  101. New Yahoo Beta just made my life harder; the screen is ridiculously crowded, it's hard to locate my mail and the thing is so slow that I end up shutting the program down. Boo Yahoo.

    ReplyDelete
  102. I got the yahoo beta, and every time I log into my account to check my mail, I don't see anything, besides what is at the top like "Yahoo! Mail (beta), switch back", ya know what I mean?, it sux really bad, I can't even check my mail, it won't let me, and I tried to switch back and it won't let me do that either, how do i switch back to my original yahoo mail?? This beta, I say, Get rid of the S.O.B!!!!! It's a big Joke, IT SUX BIG BALLS!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I tried the new Yahoo Mail beta and is horrible slow, and I don't like it at all. And above all that SWITCH BACK button is not working at all. :( Really really bead!

  104. Welcome to Slowville. Population: Yahoo Mail Beta

    ReplyDelete
  105. GOOGLE SUCKS!

It's so disguesting that google does not allow anyone to create any user to create id witout invitation. It's silly to ask someone to send a invitation so i can create a id. Yahoo is cool in this regard. U dont need any invitation. Just go and create one!

    Try yahoo!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Yahoo Beta Sucks!! Plain and Simple. It looks like a copy of OE, is way to slow and there are way too many ads. Yahoo...you've got a great working program now...Leave it that way!!

    ReplyDelete
  107. I can't read my mails becos pf Beta login errors occur pls help out.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Pls I can't acess my mails due to beta login errors that occurs pls help me out.tnx

    ReplyDelete
  109. To all beta users, I have just switched back to the original yahoo! mail because I couldn't send anything to anyone but myself and I always got that mailer__daimon@yahoo.com automatic response saying that the message couldn't be delivered and I am still having trouble with it so I would advise you to not get it!

P.S.: Can anyone help me fix the problem of not being able to e-mail anyone but me?

    ReplyDelete
  110. Yahoo Beta Mail has been out for almost 2 years (which is ridiculously long for a beta). I've been using it this whole time. I really like the inteface, better than any others I've seen. I can't use gmail because I need Yahoo's folders (I have a sophisticated filtering system).

HOWEVER.... the yahoo beta sucks big time in terms of performance and bugs. It is unbelievably bad, so bad I sometimes can't even do my email. It's getting worse and worse to the point where I am ready to punch my computer... hanging, losing emails I'm composing, etc. After 2 yrs this thing should be in production by now and it's just a mess. I wonder what Yahoo's problem is. I occasionally call and complain to Yahoo but they just tell me to switch back to the old Yahoo email, which is clucky. When I press them they eventually admit they know there are problems with it. They happen so frequently I can hardly stand it anymore.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I have been using new Yahoo for as long it has been available to public....and I am liking the interface...however I would really like notebook and calendar to be part of tabbed browsing...as they brought the address book to be part of it....rather that opening a new window altogether...and i am really looking forward to IM inclusing within the new ajax feature....

    ReplyDelete
  112. I have hit the refresh and automatically get a page to send an error code to Yahoo. I have done this 6 times in a few days. Yahoo keeps telling me it is fixed now. IT IS NOT!

Yahoo puts my own messages from ME in Spam folder. NOT COOL!

I figured out a fix for all this. GMAIL.com
works fine. Yahoo is dead as far as I am concerned. Won't take long for everyone to figure out that I switched.

I can't afford the time to keep opening blank emails that should have something in them.

    Gmail.com way better.

    ReplyDelete
  113. i tried it and loved it but then it switched back to normal by itself and i cant change it back.
    what do i do?

    ReplyDelete
  114. I've used Yahoo Beta since it was released to paying customers and really like the interface. I haven't had a reason to complain about it until very recently. It worked fine and with same speed as the previous version for a few years, but in the last few months, I've noticed a definite slowdown... It drives me up the wall!!! What is going on?

    ReplyDelete
  115. it is diffucult to use with firefox (actually you cannot use!!!) is also very slow so it is already beta.

    ReplyDelete
  116. I hate the yahoo beta! it sucks big time! its slow, useless and it doesnt want to switch back. i have the "switch back" link but when i ckick it nothing happens!! very annoying. i have 2 yahoo! accounts. one with beta and one without and i like the one without soooo much more. i see im not alone. most of the comments say its no good so maybe the guys in Yahoo should do some serious rethinking. isnt it supposed to be BETTER??

    ReplyDelete
  117. Yahoo beta email is a pain after you got used to Gmail. After every login it gives error saying "unable to load message" and "try again". It sucks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. Somehow Yahoo thought that I might like MailBeta. I HATE it. It is extremely slow. I can't even view messages. We have a 1 mb adsl here and none of the pc s or macs are able to show any of the emails. sorry, one mac showed them because yahoo said MailBeta does not support Safari so it opened up the old mail ;)

someone please help me to get back to yahoo mail as I like many others am not able to log into my email account, after using Beta for about 6 months without any problems and having kind of fallen in luv with it, now it is giving me untold pain. I am able to log into my account from another computer but not from my own pc. I can ofcourse chat from my pc, make changes to my account info etc but not able to read my mail, it just shows the subject line but not able to go back to previous classic version either. Those who have successfully gone back to beta please show us the way. Pl respond without fail to nachu0205@gmail.com

    ReplyDelete
  125. dont ever make the mistake of trying yahoo beta it stinks and you cannever ever return to normal yahoo again, you cant read mail or do anything it just gets stuck forever.

    ReplyDelete
  126. @LaxmiNarasimha K. A.

I had your problem a couple of weeks ago. You could:

    * try the standard stuff - clear your browser's cache, delete the cookies

    OR

    * try another browser (Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Safari)

    OR

    * revert to the old version of Yahoo. There's a link at the top of the page that lets you do that. You can switch between the two versions anytime you want.

    ReplyDelete
  127. i tried switching back also - I wanted to retrieve some information on an old email message, but couldn't "switch".

  134. taken from yahoo help on how to change back to original yahoo from beta if having problems

"I assume you're talking about changing form Yahoo! Mail Beta back to the original Yahoo! Mail.

At the top left of your mail page click Switch Back or Trouble Logging In beside Sign Out and My Account, or click Options above the message window and click Switch to original Yahoo! Mail.

If you can't get to your mail page to click Switch Back or Trouble Logging In, sign in to Yahoo! and click the link below and click "No thanks, remind me later" (written in blue) and you will be switched back to original Yahoo! Mail. "

  140. I have tried out the Beta mail three times since it first came out, and as far as speed goes it's as bad as ever.
I use Firefox but today tried for the first time accessing Beta through Internet Explorer. Lo and behold, the speed problem resolved itself. But as far as going back to IE is concerned, I'd rather swim with crocodiles, so it's back to the old version of Yahoo mail. Incidentally, I'd use G-Mail if it wasn't for losing touch with hundreds of business connections.

    ReplyDelete
  141. ok...i agree with cesar...i have gamil and it is much more convienient.

    GO GMAIL!

    ReplyDelete
  142. I am new to GMail but it seems pretty solid. I have been a Yahoo! email user forever and like it too. However, their new Beta version has some bugs and leaves a lot to be desired for me personally, so I've switched back to regular classic Yahoo! and am using my Google email more now.

  143. I don't like it. how do I get back to my regular yahoo mail. I live in the USA

    ReplyDelete
  144. Terrible terrible just terrible mail system, almost as bad as hotmail...what are they doing now? used to be pretty well done, anyhow, Gmail is the GO.

    ReplyDelete
  145. As of October 2007, Yahoo Mail "Classic" has been dumbed down even for Yahoo Mail Plus Premium purchasers, and is now missing many features, including integration with the address book and filters, such that email lists no longer show if the sender is in your address book, marking spam no longer adds them to a block filter, and html graphics once blocked in an email cannot be shown (no "show html" button) so you have to click off to the sender's links to see what they sent you, if even possible. Also, it's unreliable, slow, and error prone #5 #14.

    ReplyDelete
  146. Hey!...this is reall cool!...thanks a lot!

    ReplyDelete
  147. Yahoo beta is terrible! I can't get rid of bulks because it won't allow me to. No matter how much times i click empty or delete, i get no response. I love it the old way and hope that yahoo team could get it back the way it was. I'm crying right now because i really missed it the way it was. Bring it back the original way, Yahoo.

  155. As of Masy 28, 2008, Yahoo "Classic" has suddenly returned the adress feature where it shows a little "rolodex-card-type" icon nect to incoming email addresses so we can click on them to check them and add them to our addressbook. This was an important feature lost for months. Perhaps someone at Yaho oIS reading our complaints and IS trying to give back waht they have taken? If Microsoft bought Yahoo, I would have left forever, so maybe this is Yahoo's way to honor those of us who prefer to stay pure Yahoo, even PAYING for the privelidge.

  157. Dump Yahoo Mail and go to GMail. I've wasted years of my life using Yahoo Mail and finally had my fill this last week... I'm now using a combo of SpamArrest and GMail - I'm a very happy emailer once again (haven't been this happy with email since the 1990's)

  158. I've been using Yahoo Mail for years, and I have to say, over the past couple of years it's become un-freakin' usable!

Last week, every time I sent an email I had to log back in again!!

I finally had enough, and went off the deep end and switched over the GMail. Then I added SpamArrest as the intermediary between Yahoo Mail and my GMAil account (doing "filtered forwarding").

    All I can say is: S W E E T !

I haven't been this happy with emailing since the 1990's!

  181. Some of the simple things were made worse. To mention a couple: if you cut and paste from an Office spreadsheet, and some of your items were bold, they use to paste in very nicely, so it made it easy to send a good looking "list". Now, all that formatting is lost. You use to simply click on "To", or "CC", to drop your email addresses, now you have to click in the field, that pops up a little plus, and then you can click on the plus to drop your addresses. How on earth does anyone think that is more productive?? And the general look isn't as clean as the old one--much harder to find individual items, everything seems to run together. Layout and separation of click fields is probably the MOST critical item in a good display. I programmed all my life, now retired, so I'm more than qualified to comment.

    ReplyDelete
  182. I'd like to join the hate list..."hate Yahoo Beta" ...now for something more constructive. 1. Is there a way to let Yahoo know how much we hate this and 2. is there a way to switch back to the older version???

    ReplyDelete
  183. For all of you trying to get the Yahoo Beta please save yourself! RUN! I have two yahoo accounts and switched to Yahoo Beta on one just to test it out. I hate it. There are no real advanced search capabilities for searching for those hard to find emails. What good is it to have unlimited storage if you have no way to really search through it all. BEWARE...apparently once you change to BETA you can never turn back!

I'm very satisfied with using GMAIL as my main personal email, front-ended with SpamArrest to blow away ALL of the spam email (I actually have my Yahoo mail account forwarded to SpamArrest, which cleans out the spam and forwards to my protected GMAIL account - zero spam).

    Works for me.
